The sample in this study examined breast cancer patients receiving aromatase inhibitors, which are drugs that inhibit the function of the aromatase enzyme in producing estrogen. It was found that after patients had taken this drug for a period of time, the number of genes producing the enzyme increased, enabling estrogen to be produced again.
